We are looking for a new team member to fill the position of Accountant for our Materials Supply Segment. Reporting to the Managing Partner, as an Accountant at BM Group International, you will work closely with the Corporate Controller to provide support for the efficient and effective workings of the accounting departments of many companies within our group.

This position will be on-site and based out of the Surrey/Langley/Delta area of the Lower Mainland.

What You’ll Do:

  • Day-to-day accounting for the group of companies in the Materials Supply Segment
  • Support Controller with maintenance of the general ledger accounts by monitoring Accounts Receivable journal entries
  • Collect and report on financial data and insights with respect to key organization decisions and business objectives
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against forecast/budget for all divisions
  • Analyze and advise on cash flow, revenues, expenses, and balance sheet items
  • Reconcile bank accounts and investigate discrepancies, as required
  • Prepare financial statements, summaries, and other cost-benefit analyses and financial reports
  • Prepare and maintain financial metrics for reporting
  • Ensure appropriate systems and internal controls are maintained
  • Assist in the preparation of month end and year-end financial tasks and statements for both external and internal processes
  • Reconcile all intercompany accounts on a monthly basis
  • Reconcile and remit GST for all companies either monthly, quarterly or annually
  • Review and investigate all accounts in all companies to determine any variances and reasons for them
  • Reconcile and remit PST monthly, as required by individual companies
  • Review and pay confidential invoices
  • Prepare and submit invoices to internal companies for fees or expenses paid by other entities
  • Monitor A/R ensuring all invoices have been entered and collections are up to date
  • Monitor A/P ensuring all invoices have been processed(approved and coded correctly)
  • Identify discrepancies and errors and implement corrections

 

To qualify for this role, you have:

  • Post-secondary education or degree in Business or Accounting, preferred
  • CPA designation in good standing, or working towards
  • 3-5 years in an accounting role
  • Public Practice experience would be an asset
  • Preference is given to candidates with experience in the construction or materials supply industry
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft products, specifically Excel
  • Ability to operate various accounting systems at a high-level
  • Knowledge of how to operate a business from a financial perspective would be an asset
  • Time management, attention to detail, and priority setting skills
  • Proven ability to develop strong collaborative relationships across companies
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to recognize and communicate opportunities for efficiencies and implement new processes
  • Exceptional communication with strong verbal/written skills and a willingness to share information
  • Integrity and flexible character with proven ability to work with a diverse group of personalities

 

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment, working to deadlines, some high stress situations (e.g., meeting tight deadlines)
  • May be required to work outside of normal work hours on occasion to meet the needs of the business
  • Sitting for long periods of time

 

Salary Ranges:

  • $60,000 to $75,000 (1 yrs to 3 yrs experience with post-secondary)
  • $75,000 to $100,000 (3 yrs to 5 yrs+ experience with post-secondary and CPA)
