We are looking to hire a Cement Mason / Concrete Finisher (NOC 73100).

The position is full time, 30-40 hours per week. It is based out of Address:  202-204 Cayer St, Coquitlam, BC V3K 5B1, which is also our business address. You will work throughout the Lower Mainland.

The position pays between $33.00 per hour and $40.00 per hour, depending on level of experience with the possibility of performance-based raises. You will also receive extended health benefits, prescription drugs, dental coverage, and 2 weeks’ vacation. The Company will provide on the job training and will provide Personal Protective Equipment training as well as WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems) training. The worker is to provide their own Steel-toed safety boots.

The description of the job:

Concrete finishers smooth and finish freshly poured concrete, apply curing or surface treatments and install, maintain and restore various masonry structures such as foundations, floors, ceilings, sidewalks, roads, patios and high-rise buildings.

The duties of the position:

• Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade
• Fill hollows and remove high spots to smooth freshly poured concrete
• Operate power vibrator to compact concrete
• Level top surface of concrete according to grade and depth specifications using straightedge or float
• Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools
• Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete
• Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete
• Waterproof, damp-proof and restore concrete surfaces
• Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of floors, walls, roads and other concrete structures.

The requirements of the position are:

• 2+ years of work experience in the cement mason / concrete finishing trade
• No formal trade education or certificate is required
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of safe work practices in the concrete finishing industry
• Sound knowledge of mixing cement, plaster, and mortar
• Ability to understand blueprints of concrete structures
• There is no English language requirement for this position
